I'd just like to publicly thank Steve for the excellent service I received when ordering my three lenses.

I received a confirmation e-mail from Steve to let me know that the shipment was leaving him on Monday morning - and they arrived this morning, taking three days to make an overseas journey of at least 3000 miles. Not bad for $10 shipping!

The parcel was plenty sturdy enough for the trip, and Steve, on his own initiative, filled in the customs form with a price that wasn't... well, wasn't 100% correct - saving me, of course, from any taxes.

The lenses were enclosed in two sturdy pieces of cardboard, taped together with great precision, and the entire presentation was superb. And the quality of the lenses is, as everyone who has received them has already said, absolutely fantastic.

If I could make two comments (although they might be useless if the store is closing soon ), it would be firstly, to give shoppers the option of purchasing the tool to remove the empeg fascia - having never bought an official lens, I'll have to pop around to Maplin's at the weekend to pick one up.

Secondly, having never seen any lenses before, I looked at the gel lens, and saw what appeared to be a plastic protective cover over it, and began to peel this off. Fortunately I realised my mistake before any damage was done - this is the actual gel colouring! A warning in the package and/or on the website to this effect might be useful.

To conclude, parting with my money hasn't been such a pleasurable experience as this was since UPS delivered my empeg three months ago!

Cheers,

A.

Thanks.

As far as the store it would stay open if the orders were consistent but as I predicted the rush is over and there dropping to nil already. Oh well. The store will stay open till I'm out at least or until I get so frustrated and throw the rest away.

Why not a little endeavor on eBay? People are going nuts for tuners over there - they obviously don't know about Patrick's little project (the genius!). I'm sure there are many owners who have not yet found the BBS or even riocar.org that would be interested in aftermarket colors.

Or has someone already suggested this?

I would seriously consider doing this as well before tossin them! I really think there is a market for these, and I bet you could get "consistant" orders by placing one or two a week on Ebay. I will do the auctions for you if you would like! I would just have the winners paypal you directly after the auction ends. I havent needed any aftermarket colours yet, but would hate to see such a cool thing go in the toilet.

I just received my two colors (neon red and dark blue) and I must say the quality on these is fantastic. And just as everyone has said, the delivery was fast and packaging was well thought. At 1st look when installing one, I thought they were cut slightly too short as the edge was a little more than showing. But then upon turning it on, thats the whole point!. So you get the glowing edge effect, especially when you install the button kit (waiting to hear back for my order). Great job. Hopefully the store doesn't close just yet as I have plans to buy a few more colors ... just have to get some money in week or 2.

Great Job Steve. If you continue to stay open, I for one still have a few more colors I would like

I tried Ebay before with them. It didn't work that great.
Maybe I'll try again but differently this time.

It just seemed to me that people were very interested in accessories for the empeg and were under the impression that they could only find leftover items on eBay.

So by that reasoning I figured you could get some form of steady sales going on. I didn't know you had tried it before.

By the way, my new Smoke lens is unbelievably clear compared to the originals. I love it.

Greetings!

I would add that the smoke lenses are a perfect match for most VFD US dashboards. Thanks again!!!

Actually you jogged loose an idea I was thinking about trying on Ebay before.
I think I'll try setting this Idea up this weekend.

Since I already have a Clear Lens, is it possible to use the Gel sheet lens without sticking them onto the clear lens? i.e. so I can change the colours?

cheers,
Jaidev

Well I wouldn't actually throw them away. I could sell them back to where I bought them for the recycle value. They would use the plastic for making new material.

Still a depressing thought, though, and you would probably get only a scrap value percentage of what you paid.
