Anyone done any testing with MP3pro audio files on a Rio Receiver? Just upgraded to the new version of MMJB, and wondered if the receiver can play the full MP3pro stream? How about custom OS upgrades for the receiver that can support MP3pro?

I saw something on this site { http://www.digit-life.com/articles/mp3pro/ } that implies that old MP3 players can play a MP3pro file, but not all of the data.

Here is a quote from the site:

"...The MP3Pro, unlike the MP3, contains two streams - the first one is Layer III, and the second carries the information for recovery of highs. That is why a file compressed into MP3Pro (which will be also *.mp3) can be reproduced in a usual player as well, but at the sampling frequency of 22 kHz as the player can see only the first stream...."

My personal experience is that 96kbps MP3pro files sound great in MMJB (I use 192 for standard MP3 format), but they sound horrible when played in Windows Media player.

I don't believe that the receiver plays MP3pro.

Note that an MP3pro file played on a regular MP3 player will work, but probably will sound awful.
