I JUST got around to reading the Dec. 2000 issue of Animation Magazine, which happens to be their 15th anniversary issue. Whadaya know... on page 88 under the "15 Top Animators Digital Toys" heading, there's the empeg!!

"(www.empeg.com) It makes a Linux-powered in-dash car MP3 player that can store thousands of songs and play cool animations sound great."

That's a direct quote... the wording of which is terrible, but none-the-less, it's in there. I wonder if someone i know wrote that section.....
