Anyone seen this before?
I like the rotating flip-out screen.

Looks nice but also a bit vaporware-ish. A lot of the photos look sort of rendered to me. I'll believe it when I see it photographed elsewhere.

It also looks like it requires manual intervention to rotate it

Can't you read Korean? There's a gallery with install pictures right there.

That's a fact. Typical in-dash motorized displays are 7". This one's larger, and they even have a model with a 10.4" inch screen in a DIN size unit. Amazing.

Fair enough, they look a bit more real.

At 862,000 Won though it's a bit exy. That's about US$840

Well, at the time of its release, the bare minimum capacity empeg mk2 (6GB) was, IIRC, $999. I don't have any idea what this thing does or what its specs are other than the pretty screen, but after five (!) years of continued hardware advancement, I'd imagine it's got more horsepower and more sophisticated peripheral capabilities. Of course, the software almost surely pales in comparison even to the 1.0 player releases, but I'd say this is targeted at the more general "car PC" enthusiast than someone who wants the best possible car MP3 player... So they might sell a bunch of these.

The way I read it, it's just a screen though. No processing power. If you look in the pictures you can see a second "1 DIN" unit which looks like it's the brains behind the operation.

So really it's a 2 DIN system.

Unless things like nano-ITX actually come out, I can't see a single DIN PC based unit becoming a reality for a while. You're going to need an external "control" box like the Alpine/Pioneer/Kenwood etc TFT headunits for now.

Looks neat and all but have they never heard of subtle and discrete? Having "Centrino Mobile Technology" and a massive "1DINPC" logo on everything is just screaming for it to be stolen.

[Bitt Mode] I don't know about subtle, but the unit is discrete. Perhaps they should be a bit more discreet in their labeling, however... [/Bitt Mode]
