Hello all-

Just got an empeg, and will be doing a complete overhaul of my car audio setup. I'd like to hook up the empeg to a single DIN head unit (the POS in the dash where the empeg will go is double DIN). I'm just looking for advice/opinions of people who have done the same.

I've not auditioned any head units yet, but am thinking about Nakamichi CD-45z, Pioneer DEHP930, or a Clarion DXZ825.

Anyway, I'm looking to benefit from the experience of those who have gone before me.

Any and all help/advice much appreciated

Geoff

I suggest two things: 1) Make sure it has standard RCA style inputs in the back of the unit, this will make it a plug and play with the empeg. 2) Get used to how the Empeg display looks (use it at home...), and check that your new head unit will look good when the two are side by side.

What else are you considering besides the Clarion? Have you demo'd the Clarion?

I'm using mine with a Clarion DXZ615 and am pretty pleased. Good input/output options on the Clarion and a good amount of tuning ability. The Clarion is acting as pre-amp connected to my JL Audio amps. In-cabin speakers driven along one pair of connections and subwoofer from another pair. No fade control from the Clarion, but it's nice to be able to adjust input sensitivity as well as non-fader (sub) volume.

Hi,

Have to agree with Bruno, i'm very pleased with my Clarion DXZ618R headunit acting as main amp for my empeg. Works like a charm with or without the empeg. It seems to get very warm on long journeys, but havn't been a problem sofar. Sofar i've been on 7 hours drives with the empeg constantly on, even when doing gas stops, the empeg or the clarion never missed a beat. Though the cd that i'd left in the clarion was hot to the touch!! Perhaps a seperate amp install does something about this, time will tell. My money is spend on styling/roadholding at the moment
