Hijack v461 is released.

This version simply undoes the v441 serial port changes.

So now, the serial port is shared between apps and the player software again, the way it always used to be. This makes for much easier debugging and the like.

It may also break an app or two -- Emphatic (maybe)?

Cheers

Mark,

Is it feasible to consider leaving the control option in Hijack but just changing the default to "player uses serial port"?

I guess it will still be overlooked in a lot of trouble-shooting situations, especially by folks who have an app that uses the serial port.

No, because Hijack itself does not work fully/properly on that setting. There's a lot more to this than meets the eye.

Color me confused. emphatic hasn't been touched in quite a long time, certainly before v441. So, it worked before v441, then in v441 you made some changes, and now you reversed those changes. Why would emphatic now be broken?

Good! I don't use Emphatic (though I should someday), so I just didn't know if it would be affected or not. That's the one app that's important enough to care a lot about here!

Cool.

441 was done for me to allow access to both the serial port and the player software in anticipation of the bluetooth version of Palantir. The AirCable BT adapters would be plugged into the serial port, and Empire would have to listen to that port, but also be able to inject commands into /proc/empeg_notify as usual. If I get around to working on it again we can bring the topic up again.

Ah, right! Yes, we want that app/feature someday. I'd like it right now, actually!

Just save a copy of v460 for development of the BT-Palantir, then. If/when you get ready for a real release, I'll do something about it in Hijack again.

Cheers
