This has been brought up before, but I don't think in this exact way.

Would it be possible to implement a Mark for Deletion option so that when you hear a song that you want to delete off the empeg, you can mark it. Then, when you go into emplode and do a sync, it'll automatically get deleted. This would eliminate you having to do a search for marked tracks, and then deciding which ones you want to delete.

If people are worried about accidentally marking something for deletion, perhaps on sync it could pop up a verification dialog that says something like "The following tracks have been marked for deletion, is this ok?".

Wow, that would be a cool feature! I second that notion.

Well, we already have the "Mark" key.

The only remaining thing would be to have a soup view built-in to emplode called "Marked Tracks" which would be focused automatically at Emplode start-up if it's non-empty.

As it stands right now, I think Jemplode can let you create a custom Soup view, or at least he was talking about doing that in an upcoming release.

I think what would be helpful is the ability to press mark then a number to specify something. I personally have marked so many tracks between emplode visits that it becomes pointless for me to try and remember why I marked it. (It's almost as bad as when I was trying to remember problems to fix with 1.03. I only connect to my car player via emplode every month or two).

And to not break the ease of simple quick marks, make the default not need a number pressed, and just timeout after a bit of waiting.

I like that idea too. It's been requested numerous times, but I don't think anybody suggested something as simple as pressing a number after the mark track button.

Me too!

Using mark followed by a number seems like a very good way of extending the mark functionality, and the labels on the number buttons might help as a mnemonic (e.g. I could press 6/Year to indicate that the track has a wrong year, or needs adding to the appropriate year playlist, etc.) As long as I don't press the number just as the timeout finishes and get a tweak-order action instead...
