I DROPPED MY RIO CAR - LED BROKEN INSIDE AND CRACK - 28/07/2002 23:09

I dropped my rio car today and it looks like on the lower right VFD corner its cracked and looks like a light is broken off.. i hear it raddling inside.

otherwise it still plays but it wont display anything and it ruined the vfd cable connection it connects to the motherboard.. what shall i do? i have the recipt and original box that i have purchased through sonicblue's website.
how much to replace the whole VFD?

Sorry to hear about the accident.

David can repair it, but I heard a rumor that the repair for that particular kind of damage runs over $300.00 US. Don't quote me on that, I don't know the actual amount, I heard that second-hand.

I believe that includes shipping each way (which costs more than the replacement VFD).

Is it cheaper to send a replacement display board unit and return the bum one?

didn't someone just order the VFD and solder it in themselves

Yeah, that was me . Empeg charged me about £90 IIRC for the bare display. That included VAT & postage. It was an easy job to replace it.
