Simply go to the equaliser, find the eq setting you want to name, go to the menu, find rename and select it and type the name you want displayed for that particular eq setting.

Simple as that....

For me, on 2.0b13, Rename is the last item on the menu - so it's immediately to the left of Select.

The order is:
  • Select
  • Set locks
  • Copy from
  • Rename

On the player.

I'm pretty sure that this is in all 2.0 versions, though.

(You are in the correct menu, yes? Sound>Equaliser>(down)>Rename)

Re: Equaliser - 10/08/2002 01:44

Correct, you need the latest version of the software to follow the instructions listed earlier in this thread. There are ways to rename the EQs in the older software, but no point in going through that since I don't remember how to do it any more and the Beta13 is really good so you should just use it anyway.

And no, there's no "ready set" EQs that you can upload to the player. The EQ is supposed to compensate for your car's interior and the speakers/amps you're using. Since every installation is different, there is no single "preset" EQ that will be good for you. You have to tweak it in the environment it's used in.

Hi Guys,
The saga continues got version 2.0b11 down and now I have the option 'rename'..I can remove the old name but have no way of writing a new name.
Ideas anyone.

Re: Equaliser - 10/08/2002 06:34

IIRC, you have to use the remote in order to enter a new name. Just use the numbers with letters on them (2-9) and play around with it. You'll figure it out. (I'd be more precise, but I forget the exact method right now.)

True, but what if you have a his and hers empeg that you use in the same car, or your empeg gets stolen and you want to put your old settings on the one you just bought on ebay, or for some crazy reason all your settings get wiped. It would be nice to be able to reload your settings onto the player then wouldn't

Re: Equaliser - 12/08/2002 11:01

I keep my EQ settings noted on a scrap of paper just in case of data loss.

I agree that a way to back up and restore EQ settings would be nice. Unfortunately, we don't have that yet.

However, this is different than asking for a "ready set" EQ curve that's already been pre-programmed for you. I've seen car stereos with these before (presets named Jazz, Rock, Classical, etc.), and they are just silly, they're missing the whole point of EQ.
