Alternative input device

Has anyone considered using a Griffin Powermate as an input device as opposed to a Sony Stalk? (http://www.griffintechnology.com/index.html)
This little knob has major bling-bling factor, and has a fairly long USB cable as well. I'm trying to brainstorm ways of getting a glovebox installation working, and this seems like one piece of the puzzle to getting that to work.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Also, while we're on the subject of glove box installation: Don't. You really really really really do not want to do a glove box installation. Rip out your entire factory stereo and install an amp before trying to do a glove box installation. It will be easier and work better. Trust me. Click here for why.
