How come I can never type in Hyperterminal?

I followed the faq for connecting with hyperterminal (correct settings, etc.), I have a developer version, and all the junk scrolls down when I reboot the player. But I can't type anything in hyperterminal! Like how the faq says to type N for next track. It just says "Switching to" with a blinking "_". But nothing comes up when I type. Is there something wrong with my player, or is there something wrong with my computer, or is there something wrong with me?

It thinks that it's in the car, so it's changing the baud rate immediately after that message.

If it's not in the car, you've probably got a broken power plug. Contact support. If it is in the car, you need to search for car_rate in the FAQ.
