screws for mounting HDs - 31/10/2002 17:28
Anyone know where I can get the right screws? I've tried local computer stores like the FAQ says but had no luck. Will support sell some?

I was able to go to a CompUSA and after asking nicely, sift through a large bin of screws to come up with ones that would fit. You might try the same at a CompUSA or similar.

I just took the HDD to the hardware store and found some that fit. Get some spacers too.

I'll send you some screws free of charge. Just email me your postal address. Bear in mind they will take 3-14 days to arrive if you're in the US though.

I bought a "variety pack" of screws from Fry's Electronics. Some of the screws in there were the correct gauge.

I don't think it would matter as long as they aren't shorting out anything on the bottom of the HDD. I used plastic spacers from home depot on on drive and some extra rc car shock parts for the other one.

I too am using 'conductive' steel washers without any probs.
My logic was that the screws provide a conductive path from the tray to the drives anyway.
