PCA's Tuner: Specs - 05/02/2003 14:37

This is probably on the board somewhere but i can't find it! In what ways does Patricks new tuner differ from the original, other than the connector options. Does it store the same number of presets etc etc?

The presets are not stored on the tuner. The player software controls all of that.

The tuner pretty much just a "dumb device", the features are really all in the software. It's got some smarts, but not that much.

The difference between the kit and the original is: The kit has some extra pins for additional analog and switched I/O, to do project-type things like read pulses from an RPM counter, or to signal an external relay to turn on and off. However, there is no software to support these pins yet, so for now it's functionally identical to the original.

I'd heard talk about the kit's tuner chip possibly being weatherband-capable. I do not know if that actually happened or not. Anyone have that answer?

Off the top of my head, ISTR that weatherband was included in the multi-regional version of the tuner module that Patrick ended up using. (The modules that were region-specific did not have WB.)

Oooh.. now THAT'S cool. I assume that the player sends the frequency to the tuner that the player wants, yes? So it wouldn't be that hard to make a small pgm so send the tuner a WB frequency.. right?

Me.

Hmmm...
Do you think it could receive an LED output from my moble Police Scanner? (To display the, six digit, frequency over the empeg screen?)

My setup already puts dispatch over my car speakers...

I'm not majorly interested in purchasing a tuner however if it could "Do the weather band" that may warm up my Visa.

Cool! Maybe that'll revive the old speed input discussion !
