the buttons - 01/06/2000 00:56

I just finished browsing the new empeg site, very nice job.
I noticed one picture of the rear of the face plate and it looks like the four buttons are back lit. I like that idea if its true. It helps on dark nights.

The picture does show backlit buttons. However, whilst the hardware supports this, doing it would have required that (a) the buttons were made transparent, and (b) that we used white LEDs to ensure that whatever screen colour you had, the buttons lit up in the correct way. We were also worried about it looking strange as the rotary control wouldn't light up.

Still, the hardware support is in there (and they can be turned on/off/dimmed by sending commands to the display board)...

is the lighting control global to the cluster or can lighting commands be sent to individual buttons?
This would give some extra cool factor to the visuals!!
