The informative visuals bugged me enough that I decided to do a cyrillic font for them too. I had a bit of fun with it and use a font that looks like Kanji

Oh, and here's an image of what the font looks like so you don't have to install it to see it.

My rule of thumb:
  • katakana is lines and curves
  • hiragana is made of squiggles
  • kanji looks very complicated, and
  • romaji looks like normal writing
And no, I can't actually understand anything in Japanese, either.
