Tune problem

Tune problem - 23/06/2003 12:39

Since version 2.0 I'm having a problem with the tuner module: auto seek does't work anymore and RDS seems not to work properly too. I know that's a known bug. Is there a workaround for 'dummy' usrs? Thanks.

There's a Hijack ir_translate fix for the Seek buttons, something like this in the player's config.ini file:

[ir_translate]
Left.LT=0x00b9460A.LN,Left.LU ; fix front-panel Left button in Tuner mode
Right.LT=0x00b9460B.LN,Right.LU ; fix front-panel Right button in Tuner mode

Mark, I just modified the config.ini file with JEmplode and rebooted the player but it seems not to work. If I press (no matter how long) the left/right button on the front panel in tuner mode, it just rapidly switches between the saved frequencies. What's wrong? Thanks for your help.

Re: Tune problem - 24/06/2003 14:36

Hmm. My config.ini looks like this, I think it's a bit different than Mark's example.

Some of this is deliberately there so that it changes the behavior even in standard playback mode (pressing left and right while the volume bar is up makes it go away and take effect instead of having it not work), but that's unrelated to the tuner stuff.

[ir_translate]
Left.LT=b9460c.L
Left.L=Left.L
Left=PrevTrack.V,Left.N,Left.U
Right.LT=b9460d.L
Right.L=Right.L
Right=NextTrack.V,Right.N,Right.U

Top.L=Top.L
Top=Pause.V,Top.N,Top.U
Bottom.L=Bottom.L
Bottom=Bottom.V,Bottom.N,Bottom.U

PrevTrack.LT=b9460c.L
NextTrack.LT=b9460d.L

Hope this will help?

I probably got it wrong (From memory). Just use Tony's example.

Cheers

Re: Tune problem - 25/06/2003 11:20

Hi Tony.
I tried your version of the config.ini file with the following behaviour: if I shortly press the left/right button on the front panel, it switches to the previous/next saved station, and that's fine. If I press them longer nothing happens. If I use the remote, no matter how long I'll press, I get I frequency adjustment of 0.3.
What can/shuold I try more?
Thank you for your patience.

Hm. Dunno, then?

Re: Tune problem - 25/06/2003 12:04

Do you have the Kenwood remote disabled (one of the config options in Emplode), as I think Tony's config maps to Kenwood remote codes.

If you have the Kenwood remote disabled, that may explain why you are seeing nothing when holding th front panel buttons.

Re: Tune problem - 25/06/2003 12:22

Hi Mark.
I checked the player configuration settings with Emplode, but the Kenwood remote control is not desabled.
Thanks for your try.

Oh.. I know what's wrong. We've been telling you how to fix the front-panel L/R buttons for the Tuner, and you are probably trying to use the RioRemote Prev/Next buttons instead, right?

Re: Tune problem - 25/06/2003 13:15

That would be nice Mark.
As a matter of fact I tried both: player front panel Left/right buttons and Kenwood remote but without success. Different behaviour but both ways not as expected!

Kenwood remote but without success.
Wait a sec. I thought the kenwood remote behaved correctly, even with the stock software that included the bug. That was my observation and why we were using the Kenwood codes.

Now I'm REALLY confused.

Re: Tune problem - 27/06/2003 08:00

ok, heres my testing on it. with the kenwood codes, the frequency jumps .6 either direction (basically, if it was on 102.7, i try to do a NEXTscan, it will go to 103.3, radio station there or not. doesnt really do a real frequency scan.

Oh. Darn. Well, better than nothing, but yeah, I see how that's not optimal.
