Another Hard Drive/Altnator Whine

Ok so ive come to the conclusion that its not my install and that its the empeg itself thats making the noise. My friend poped his empeg in my car and BAM! clean perfect sound no whine no nothing. Now when i put mine in there its horrable i can hear the harddrives bootup thru the speakers and when i floor it it makes sounds. Anyone have any ideas suggestions?

Rob has stated that the rolloff caps might be causing a problem, if you have a Mk2.

... also, you should check that there is no chafing to the 4-wire power harness inside the player. If there is, re-insulate any cable chafed this way. I routinely (now) put a cable tidy around these 4 and pull them over the drive sled to lie on top of the back of the drives.

Have you tried your player in his installation? Is there a difference? Have you got a Mk2 or a Riocar? What has he got, a Mk 2 or Riocar?
