New model plans - 02/07/1999 01:59

This is probably going to sound ridiculous, but are there any new models of the Empeg planned/in preparation beyond the Mk 1?

I hope that they are busy getting the first batch ready to ship.. =)

As to a new model, I'd like to see a network connector, and faster strongarm.. A mini colour tft screen would be cool too...

We're obviously working on new things, yes. We'd be silly if we weren't... no network, though - there isn't room, and it's not applicable to enough people. And, we should have IP over USB running soon, which should be enough for most network-freaks.

As for faster SA's - there aren't any. 220Mhz is the fastest SA1100 you can get. A mini TFT would be nice, but noone makes them - the nearest you get is the screen in the AutoPC, which is limited in resolution and colour. All the TFT manufacturers just go for the main bulk of the market which is laptop-sized screens.

Heh, one out of three ain't bad.. =)

As we were talking about future models, not revisions of this one, I assumed that no new model would appear for quite a while.. By which time those 750 mip strongarms should be available..

If mini TFT's are a problem to get hold of, how about an interface to one of those nifty 7 inch JVC widescreen car monitors (KV-M70)

Only joking.. =)

I know of a source of 4" Colour TFT screens that are going for around £120 a peice.

This would be ideal for a little popout one like the mapping devices you can buy.

They accept standard composite video at a res of 320x240 and look quite kewl
