If it's *only* hooked up with USB, then it doesn't have an IP address. You need ethernet for that...

On a very loosely related topic... here is my paste from my config.ini file:

[Network]
Gateway=0.0.0.0
Netmask=255.255.255.0
IPAddress=192.168.0.4
DHCP=1

Yet, on a P2P network (notebook to empeg via crossover cable), my empeg always picks its own IP. I know it's failing to get a DHCP signal, but I thought that line in my config where I specify my IP would take over..

Nope, that's not how it works. All other lines are ignored if DHCP=1. The player is designed to assign itself a UPNP address if you tell it to use DHCP and there isn't a DHCP server.

There is no way to add files to the player using USB, however you can use the serial cable.

By the way, since you seem to be a newbie at this, I want to remind you to use the @DC modifier if you install any programs that run off of the /drive0 or /drive1 partitions. If you fail to do so, your player will be unable to synch because it won't be able to mount the music partitions correctly, as described here.
