Great Sound Tutorial! Won't you please go ahead and post ten test tones for parametric EQ settings?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure he will, but I think he's still working on getting them just right.

Let me second that, Brad. GREAT tutorial!

I'll get them out really soon. I was waiting for some feedback on the best way to go about making them. Someone from the empeg team got back to me yesterday about how to make the files as well (I had a few quesions). I'm really excited about the response to the tutorial (thank you!). I've gotten a more email and PMs that I expected. I guess there was a need out there for something like this!

PS - Private Messages, instant messages and email work pretty well.

You inspired me to finally pick up an SPL meter.

Hehe, its funny you mention that. I was questioning whether I should put a "borrowed" image from the Radio Shack site on my page (I ended up not using it) until I realized that they'd probably see an increase in sales just by me posting the tutorial!

Very cool.... If you're going to the trouble of making some test tones, I'll message you with some details about what I need to do my amp setup. You may already have me covered.

The sound files are now online. Refresh the Parametric EQ page for new url.

Thanks SE!

Has anyone followed SE's advice and used an SPL meter and set parametric eq? Has it made a noticeable difference for you?

It's just a manual way of doing the same exact thing the AutoEQ in 3.00alpha8 does (and the files were made the same way). Many people, including myself, had a noticeable change in sound (for the better).

Yes, and it has made a difference, although it appears that my speakers respond dramatically non-linearly, and I seem to have a severe spike in about band 3 along with virtually no response in band 10. I'm going to have to wait for him to post one-third octave tones to make it even better. All said, though, it seems to sound much better than what I'd tweaked out before. I'll have to live with it for a few more days to make sure.

On that note, I've just used this for tuning, and I can say it's made a hooge difference. I'm really pleased with it. Thanks!

Is there a program we might be able to use to generate new test programs, maybe even to tune EQs that aren't of the empeg?

Thanks Bitt, that's great to hear! My speakers were pretty non-linear with the AutoEQ too.. so I guess that's normal. You might want to check the polarity of your speakers if you have componest speakers... ?

Let me know how it sounds after a few days.

cshuttle43, I'll look into making a tutorial on how to make your own tones.

I used Cool Edit Pro v1.3
