Sound level: Car vs. home - 13/10/2000 12:33

Hi,

I simply cannot figure this out.

The in car line-outs are 4V, the "home" line-outs are 1V. This means that in the car you can expect 4x (Hugo mentioned it was around 2x if you measure it with a voltmeter) the amount of sound coming out of the empeg compared to when hooked up at home.

Having several problems with my car setup, I did the following comparison:

The AC amplifier is set to a certain fixed volume. The empeg is set to 0 db volume adj.

Then I compare sound volume between:

Empeg on AC power, using "home" line-outs

Empeg on DC power in sled, using "front" line-outs (the empeg thinks its in the car)

The volume seems to be excactly the same.

Is this normal?

No, shouldn't be. Did you check that when the unit was in the sled you had reset the volume to 0dB (as there are different in sled/out of sled settings).
