Meet - Car share from Airport

I would be interested to hear from anyone arriving into Schiphol Airport for the day on Sunday, to take the chance to share a hire car to the meet.

what times are your flights?

Paul, not booked anything yet, but am watching for a last minute deal. Would get into Schiphol airport sometime after 9am ( LOCAL Netherlands time ), and look for a flight around 10pm ( LOCAL Netherlands time ). I have to get back the same day, so will not be staying over.

To be honest, it will be VAST expense and you will then have to fight through the heaviest traffic in NL, where the largest number of speed cameras are installed. Even on a Sunday, it will be hard work.

Why not just use the train? It is cheap, fast and direct - and the railway station is right under the airport terminal. Instructions are in the announcement.

We live in the uk where we have a unbelivably crappy public transport system. Just kind of assume the same every where.

I'm on the LHR -> Schipol BA flight (7:40 london - 10:30 Schipol).

I'm probably going to get the train (it's direct).

Will I have any problems getting a train back to the airport on Sunday evening - I would hate to miss my return flight !

I wonder if its a nice walk from the bus station to the meet, if its a nice day I might take a walk, as I make it only around 1 mile ?

Well, I wouldn't try walkng from the centre of Amersfoort (Amersfoort central station). You could walk from Amersfoort Schothorst (about a mile).

Both stations have regular bus services to the meet (number 12). Trains back to the airport are every half hour all day; you should have no trouble getting a train back to Schiphol all day. If there is any problem then I will drive people out to Schiphol after the meet, so don't worry!

If you want to look at train times, check out the NS timetable and look for the English language version of the page. Buses are also every half hour.
