Re: Tuner Update - 20/08/2001 12:31

well, I guess that answers the question of whether there'll be a queue of some kind

Well, that kinda stinks. oh well. Guess I'll have to wait until winter to get it now. I can't find a place behind my dash to put all the wires, let alone a little black box. I suppose I'll take it to the installers on Thanksgiving break or something.

Cool news, though. and good to see the store is actually working.

Re: Tuner Update - 20/08/2001 13:15

So could be a matter of weeks before early adopters get one?

Re: Tuner Update - 20/08/2001 16:26

As Frank pointed out, I was talking about the AC Adapters. I believe the first batch of tuners exceeds the number of car players sold to date, so although the initial rush may take some time to process I don't think we'll run out.

Greetings!

Can you share how many units have been sold to date? Random curiousity, and a deep desire to know that there is still a spare of good taste in the world...

Re: Tuner Update - 20/08/2001 18:12

Hmm, I wonder how many people have multiple sled installs, each possibly needing a tuner, but only have one car player ?
I certainly do, and get the feeling there are many others like me.

In reply to:

I think that's the one you don't cut. Or was that the RED wire?

How come Danny Glover or Mel Gibson ain't around when you need them.

Re: Tuner Update - 20/08/2001 20:47

So, is there any chance of getting a spec sheet on the tuner to help pass the time away while we wait impatiently for delivery (or even to place our orders)?

So you have several hundred thousand tuners?

That rio merger thing certainly was good for getting bulk orders. You'll be sending out confirmation mail soon?

Re: Tuner Update - 21/08/2001 09:49

Several hundred thousand?! That woule mean they've sold a hundred thousand players, when i'd wager it's more in the ball park of two thousand, if that.

Did we ever get a semi-official count?

Mardibloke: "Hmm, I wonder how many people have multiple sled installs, each possibly needing a tuner, but only have one car player ? I certainly do, and get the feeling there are many others like me."

There's at least one. I now have 3 sleds for 1) Car 2) Boat and 3) Home. Ironically, both car and boat both have Empeg piped into AUX of another head unit, but I may add tuner module to each if only for unique profile/equalizer. Also, on the boat, I'm hoping that the module can help me jack in a Sony RM-XM10 "marine" wired remote (if it proves to close enough to RM-X4S).

I'm hoping I don't have to buy a third module for home. I'm working to get AC adapter plug (and ethernet) to automagically plug into Empeg in my (in progress) home sled install. Hope this will be enough to differentiate it from the other 2 profiles.

Re: Tuner Update - 24/08/2001 16:20

2 days after first viewing the original post my electric aerial has been stuck in a fully extended position.

As I see it the reasons for this are:

1. It's as excited as I am about the imminent possibilty of getting my hands on this hardware.

2. Th Great God Empeg spake from on high and did decree that all aerials must raise their heads in anticipation of the glory of radio transmission receival and that constant extension will serve as a reminder to the human to keep checking the website for availability.

3. The evil that is the errant traffic report has spread forth across the land in an attempt to subvert the human from true mp3 freedom in persuasion of listening to constant drivel formulated by local radio stations attempting to stamp out the threat to their very survival.

4. Some bugger's been messing with my aerial.

Re: Tuner Update - 24/08/2001 16:24

In my wife's case, the answer was:

5. Need to trim the low overhanging trees around the driveway so they don't brush and bend the aerial when you turn on your radio before pulling out in the morning.

"2 days after first viewing the original post my electric aerial has been stuck in a fully extended position."

At least you have an antenna.

I removed mine after I got my car. And only the goddess knows where I put it :(

Re: Tuner Update - 28/08/2001 01:22

You don't necessarily need an antenna. you get good quality receiving by using a simple cable, too.
the lenght of the cable should be lambda or lamdba/2 or lambda/4 ... then you'll get the best results...
I always had my earlier car-hifi's connected to such a self-made antenna...

NEVER cut the coathanger! It's got to be in that chic, post-neo-modernism-minimalist diamond shape or bent to the shape of your country or state.

Re: Tuner Update - 28/08/2001 16:18

Next thing we see is people with fishing poles on the bridges over the highways of Holland trying to catch empeg tuners by hooking the coat-hangers ...

Kinda like duck-fishing on the 'kermis'

Cheers,
Hans
