Hooray! With this silly response to a silly post, this thread has officially become an "increase your post count" thread! Let's all pile on as we wait for 2.0.

By the way what is the next level above enthusiast? I feel like I've been stuck here forever...

Exactly how annoying would it be if I replied to this message a few hundred times?

I should reply to this very funny post which reminds me of my many years sitting in front of Sesame Street on TV as a kid, but ... Uh oh .. I've been in the computer room too long ... the wife's reading light just went out before I got back to bed ... bad news. "Are you still in there on that stupid computer???" ... "I'll be right there honey!"

bye

In case this was a real question, the next level is 'addict' @ 400 posts.

Do a search, 'cos somewhere there is a list of the posts/levels.

(Oh, and addict looks like the one next to my name, up there ^.... )

Cheers,

Tony,

Do you actually post a reply in every thread, or do you have one of those fake AI routines wired into the bbs now.

He's also been cloned so he can automatically respond to all geek based BBS's

I say this in pure affection and admiration. The amount of work Tony has put into this forum is amazing. For all strangers and newbies, check the number of posts Tony has made on this BBS. There should be a separate catagory for someone who has made nearly 5000 posts

I don't think you're getting into the spirit of the Pop Culture game, here...

The idea is to come up with an appropriate reply from the same source. I admit that I made it hard since the scene ends there (well, all except for the gunfire), but surely, you could have said something like:

"Tony Blair lays on his back, his belly baking in the hot sun, beating his legs trying to turn himself over. But he can't. Not without your help. But you're not helping, Leon."

Both the post count and the read/unread flags are kept on the server, so it shouldn't matter which computer you use. The problem with the read/unread flags is a bug which nobody has been able to figure out so far. The post count seems accurate, though, you can check yours by clicking on your username. You only need 4 more to become journeyman.

Borislav, pretending to be helpful to accumulate 22 more posts for addict status

Re: Journeyman! - 12/10/2001 03:08

BTW, it seems that if you delete one of your posts, your total doesn't decrease. So on a quiet night you can artificially inflate your count without anybody noticing. Although I'm sure people would notice if you tried to beat Tony...

OK... I was about to comment on your 22 posts to go... followed by 28 posts to go... and got this error from the BBS:

We encountered a problem. The reason reported was:

There was a problem looking up the post in our database.

This is not necessarily an error. If you feel this is an error then it could be something as simple as your browser not being set to accept cookies. If you feel this error is a problem with the server then please contact [email protected] and let us know what exactly went wrong so it can be fixed as soon as possible. Otherwise, please use your back button to return to the previous page.

So that would be what you get when you reply to a post that has been deleted... *grin*

OK... I was about to comment on your 22 posts to go... followed by 28 posts to go...

What's also funny is that the email notification I got of this post says:

OK... I was about to comment on your 22 posts to go... followed by 22 posts to go...

It seems the BBS itself is confused whether it's 22 or 28. Or did you edit your post?

OK, enough silliness for one night...

Re: Journeyman! - 12/10/2001 07:28

Hmm I need somewhere near 50 to get to addict, but I would actually like to maintain my enthusiast title. I consider myself more of an enthusiast than an addict. And I surely wouldn't want the "old hand" title, I might start feeling old. It'd be nice if we could choose to keep our titles even as our post counts go up. Or maybe I'll just register a new account and start out as a newbie again... This BBS is the only place I still use this nickname (from my IRC days) anyway, maybe it's time for a retirement.

400 posts actually isn't that much. Considering I've been on the BBS since mid-1999, it averages out to 4 posts a week. That's nothin'. Is someone who posts 4 times a week an "addict"?

Or maybe I just need to admit my problem and move on...

Double Boo-yah! In the anticipation of 2.0b3, my post in the past ten days equals that of all my posts since joining the BBS sometime in July. Me thinks a member it does me make?

Guess now I should think about getting off this computer and resuming my studies? Naw.
