"Erased disk? No, Rob, didn't see a thing."

"All Britney Spears songs? Hmm ... don't think so, but let me check on that for you, Rob."

ROFL

I will say that the release was held up by some things other than just little niggling bugs. The things that they were holding it for were real show stoppers, such as you couldn't install the upgrade at all to a Mk2a player, or USB would quit working altogether if you did things a certain way. So it's important to fix those kinds of things before a public beta. I think there are also some other non-bug-related things they had to iron out, too.

Pet peeve request... can the Emplode install dialog NOT have "Company" as a mandatory field prior to install.

Seems silly to even HAVE a Company field on a consumer product, and it should just be an installshield option as to what to request/require, right? :)

Seriously, I want it out, but I'll wait .... somewhat patiently... to make sure that the major issues are taken care of. I realize that it's not a simple app, and when dealing with PC's, it becomes even more complex...

Somebody please remind me why everyone hates me?

heck, at this point, I'd say it has a life of it's own... And For me at least... it's not just you... It's anyone on the Alpha Team.

As to why? Do you really need to ask? How about finding bugs that would have affected some of us, and thus causing the delay of the UBER-software-with-last-minute-addition-of-kitchen-sink.

How dare you find a bug. Personally, I'd consider it treason to even suggest that the empeg might be flawed.... But I digress... As this board is apt to do....

As far as feeling like the US.... Go right ahead. I'd love to have that feeling.. We may take a hit, but you can be damn sure that we'll hit back. And in the grand scheme, it's going to be like bees... It stings for us, but's it's damn fatal for the bee.

(And please, no one think that I"m making light of the situation, or the casualties being incurred on either side... a large number of my very close friends and family are directly involved in some of the ongoing operations. Prayers go out nightly to all that are being affected.)

2.0 is going to be released as a public Beta. Hopefully there will be no major bugs but there will be bugs - and some of them might ruin your day. Anyone who wants to run consumer quality code should wait until the release has matured.

Re: V2.0b - 17/10/2001 06:04

considering the fact that we are waiting since july, does waiting half week or a complete week really matters ? I would really prefer a beta without major bugs that may corrupt my database or fids even if it would take another week.

I think we should pe patient until the developers are thinking it's good enough to be released as public beta. Rushing helps nobody. Just think of "Windows Me". *sigh*

don't get me wrong....i'm looking twice a day at the download section but i believe putting pressure on the development folks is not the right way to achieve a beta release that is worth to be called "beta". Thats all. Just let them do their jobs.

Nope. They said during the first panic over 2.0b earlier this month, that 1.0 and 2.0 would not talk to each other. So, you wanna use the new empeg, you gotta use the new player.

Posted by: teemcbee

I'm pretty sure they don't hurry up in developing just because of our posts. They surely do their work and I think they do it well - would we have such a great product if they didn't? Of course I'd like to have the 2.0 better now than in 5 minutes but i already have the empeg sitting in my car and doing it's part very well. ok you'll have more possibilities with 2.0 but the main reason I bought it for and it was designed for is implemented and works very well.

If I were one of the developers I wouldn't hurry up more or less just because of the customers reactions. I'd see to do my work as good and as soon as possible and that's what I'm sure they also do.
