Forced Playlist Sorting

Forced Playlist Sorting - 17/10/2001 16:31

I know it has been hashed over before, but I just have to vent. I absolutely detest the forced alphabetical listing of playlists on the player. I have them arranged in the positions I want them using emplode, but nooooo, that doesn’t matter. It just erks me to no end, I can’t express how much I hate it. If there is hack that can turn this on/off, why can't there be an option in emplode turn this on/off?

Yes, there is a hack that can turn it off. The hack is available for 1.03. Since 2.0 just came out today, there is not a hack for that version yet.

The hack is called Menusort, and you can find a thread about it here.

I second your view totally. Please, our best loved empeg ppl, just put that option in emplode, I'll treat you for dinner whenever you come to Italy, promised! Plus, if you also want a good coffee, add the visual automatic cycling mode.

Tony, thanks for all the help and your are fast, as usual.

I know about the hack for 1.03, I've used it since the day it was available. But with 2.0, I feel this should be an option from within emplode, not a hack. To me it is totally aggravating.

I vaguely remember the alphabetical sort glitch, and discovered long ago that it can be cured under Linux when using emptool.. all of my tunes are uploaded with emptool, and the script I have to drive it generates a bunch of extra emptool commands to "move" tracks into track order within my playlists. Seems like emplode really oughta be able to do something similar, but I don't use it (much).

Different problem. They're complaining that the menus are still in alphabetical order, regardless of the ordering of things within playlists. emplode now has really easy to use facilities for ordering things within playlists, but the menus are still in alpha order on the player.
