Why not?

My custom kernels for button-controlled VolAdjust now also include a free Pong game with every Mk.2 unit shipped!

See the site for details: http://rtr.ca/empeg/

(hardly a newbie)

You gotta love it... Pong on the empeg... emPong? Hmmm...

I think I found the surprise allready, and if I'm not mistakin, T.F. had something to do with it...

Well, now ya gotta go fetch and play it again.

I've just replaced the basic Pong game with a more fun Break-Out game, and a new reward for winning.

New version at same place the old was: http://rtr.ca/empeg/

Why only MK2 :(

Has it something to do with lack of ram on MK1. Maybe you could make a version for MK1 too? I would really like to try it.

Does the MK1 also have the "Control Knob" on the front?
The game uses that as it's input device.

Nope, not the rotary control. How the game works? Isn't it possible to use the buttons on the remote?

Not to my knowledge. I only just downloaded the thing to try it. And if I read this thread correctly, the surprise is already gone (replaced by a new one) and I'll never see it. What was it?

The new one is similar; you'll have to play the game to find out!

Wow, this is very cool. Nice work!

I would like to make some feature requests if you're open to it:

1) The web site instructions should be clarified to say the word "simultaneously" when referring to the button presses. If it doesn't say that, someone might think that they need to press the left/right buttons AFTER holding the bottom button. This only changes the track without enabling/disabling voladj.

2) Since you've shown that you can write to the display with the games, how about writing a message: "Volume Adjustment Enabled" or "Volume Adjustment Disabled" when the change is successful?

3) Could you compile a separate version which has Voladj enabled by default in both home and car locations (for me), as well as a version which has it disabled by default in both home and car locations (for audiophiles)?

Still haven't seen the surprises, yet.

That suprise would be cool if it stayed on the screen longer. Or if that was the second boot logo. Nice work.

Re: Empeg Pong!! - 20/10/2001 09:16

Okay, I've got a Mk.1 version almost ready to roll, using both the (ugh!) Kenwood remote and the (yes!) RIO remote for startup/control.

And the VolAdj setting is now memorized over power cycles, though it is also just a single global setting and not individual car/home. But that oughta be enough to satisfy most folks for a few seconds.

I'll post to GENERAL with a new topic heading when it's up on my site.

WOW, that's fantastic! I'm impressed. How does it implement the remembering of the setting?
