...whenever I sync now, with the beta, the rebuilding database takes an awefully long time. A heck of a lot longer than it did with 1.03... Probably takes about 4 minutes. I have about 33.3 GB used... Is this length of time normal?

Not for me, no, that's not normal. Activate logging in emplode, zip one up, and send it to the boys.
