MP3 Corruption?

MP3 Corruption? - 21/11/2001 20:33

My Empeg only has about 10 albums on it so far. One of my William Orbit albums played fine prior to upgrading to 2.0b3. After upgrading, track 11 is definitely corrupted -- the music is interspersed with severe crackling/digital audio corruption. On my home computer, the original source MP3 for track 11 sounds fine. None of the other albums exhibit this problem. Any ideas on what might have caused this? Thanks.

There is a bug where a normalisation routine slipped into the compile. The crackling/static you hear is a result of the incomplete implementation of the normalisation. Roger said he will be releasing a fix for these types of tracks in the next release.
To fix it for now you could delete the track, sync and reload the track. A bit of a hassle, but there you are. And there aren't any guarantees that it wont happen again. If it keeps happening I believe the response is to downgrade to 1.03.

It's due to normalization turned on in the release by accident. The file is not corrupted.

Thanks davec, wish I'd put it so succinctly.

No I didn't. I said we would be releasing a fix for this issue in the next release .
