Looks like they're all gone now... - 01/01/2002 03:27

It looks like all the players in the US are gone (none of them show in stock any longer). I guess SB has been sucessful at dumping the entire inventory of players. I wonder when the accessories will be discounted?!?

Thanks again to Hugo, Rob, and crew for all their hard work and dedication to this magnificent product available to the consumer!

(Sorry if this was posted in some other thread)

I wouldn't look at the 'In Stock' indicator too see if any are actually in stock. I ordered mine on 12-24-01 and it said 'Out of Stock', then was promptly delivered 6 days later (3 days before the site said that they were even going to start shipping again).

Try ordering it, you might get luck.

I ordered my second unit (60 GB) ohn 25th. The International Store told me that these are in stock at this time. Some days later on they send me an email that all 60 GB Players are sold out an that my order could be changed to some for those cases reserved 30 GB Players. *gosh* Happy to got one.

on another note.. someone is selling 10 gig units one by one on ebay for increasingly higher prices. Laissez Faire I guess!

I'm still going to try to procure one with temerity

Hmm the part I find mildly interesting is that there are different sellers selling it, but the ads all look EXACTLY the same. Shady...

could have just stolen the HTML.. that happened to a co-worker.. someone stole his html from his auction.. Didn't even change the img tags.. So after the first auction the co-worker asked the guy nicely to not do it again, and he did it again.. so my friend replaced the images with animated gif's that started out as the orignal images, but flipped over to be adult material.

maybe not the nicest thing to do, but it got a laugh.

Good idea. That's what I'd do. I guess you're right it could just be stolen HTML. Pretty tactless for four people to do it though. At least the follow-ups changed "Usually sells for $899" to "Initially sold for $1199." That's still pretty misleading, although not as much of a blatant lie as "usually sells for $899."

I wouldn't be surprised to see them going for even more in the future now that the stock is depleted. The guys who got them at $199 were just happy to more than double their money.

So the world is no better off than before Hugo brought us the Mk. I..... Lets hope that their new product gets picked up by somebody soon...

i remember when the empeg guys sold the mark 1 direct from their company.. the limit was 2 per person. I think they knew the deal (of course you would have had to be really loaded to buy a lot of them at $1500 or so a pop)

I know SB did no such thing. It's the same guy selling them one by one on ebay. I wonder how many he bought? He carefully uses different names, changes the price as each one sells for more, and waits for the previous auction the close before he puts up the new one.

just a little sluething!

This was a stock dump, made several months after the product was discontinued. SB would have sold all of the players to a single purchaser if one had showed up.

I guess this way a lot of consumers got a player for next to nothing, instead of a middle man making margin on the whole batch. Could have been worse.
