Can someone tell me what shade the green RioCar screen is? Is it emerald green or is it more of a mint green? I ask because I'd like to try and match the typical American-car-mint-green color of my Mustang dash. I've seen the blue (at least the original Empeg blue) and it's nowhere close. Should I order a green lens? Is there an aftermarket lens I can buy that would be more of a match? Any help greatly appreciated...

Go to riocar.org and look at some of the install pics that should give you an idea.

green is a good colour to run as it gives the best display in sunlight.

Greetings!

I had both the green and the smoke (DarkStorm's creation). The smoke is a much closer match to US dash lighting (VFD covered by a smoke filter) than the green (more an emerald). Check out my install page to see what both look like. You might want to search for DarkStorm's posts on the lenses he creates.

I have green in a '97 Chverolet Astro. It does not look that bad, but it could have
been more 'mint'.

Welcome to the BBS. I have a '99 Mustang and the best faceplate match for your dash is going to be either the clear or "smoke" colored faceplates from Darkstorm, who is a regular poster on this BBS. These plates are not from Empeg, but they're perfect replicas. I think he wants 25 bones for them. Here's a thread with some info. Steve should be able to point you to some pictures, or there might be some floating around the BBS. If you're curious about the color, just take the faceplate off your Empeg and you've got the color. :)

See, the reason clear or "smoke" tinted faceplates are the best is that the VFD screen actually has a natural green tint to it. The green faceplates yield a very deep, rich green color that won't match anything. I wouldn't say the natural green of the VFD is a *perfect* match for my dash, but it's closer than any of the other plates available, and because it's not blocking as much of the light, it's the brightest faceplate available. I am very happy with mine, and no, DarkStorm isn't giving me a commission. :)

Good to see another 'Stang driver in the crowd. You'll have to show us some install porn when it's all done.

I imagine so... DarkStorm is the only one I've heard of who offers the clear and smoke fasciae.

Dunno if he ever posted any pics of them... I think he did but I wasn't able to find the thread. Anyway for lack of that, here's a picture of my empeg. Unfortunately the picture was taken with the display off so you'll have to imagine the green text until Steve puts up a better picture. :)
