It's in final testing right now. Some very significant changes from the pre beta's. It seems to do an ever better job on damaged sections of a disk.

Re: New EAC on the horizon - 18/01/2002 20:03

Guess I get to wait for it to be released before ripping my stuff.. I won't be able to pick up my empeg until monday (stupid FedEx.. if it's not "scheduled for delivery" they keep everything in the trucks..) so I won't be able to rip/download until then. I don't want to start ripping until I can figure out what tagging I want on the empeg..

Hahahahahahaa.

"It looks too much like XP. I want a skinnable version"!

I'd rather it be stable than have the ability for some guy to put his Dragonball Z hentai as a background. Jeez, priorities people

Besides, if you've seen the skins for most apps out there, they're way overrated.

Nice. Right in time for me to re-rip my collection in the next month or two... EAC is by far the best ripper on the planet. And now that LAME 3.91 is final (isn't it?) things are definitely falling into place for a nice re-rip session. Just gotta find a nice Sunday when there's no hockey or basketball on (football won't be a problem in a few weeks.)

I'm with you on that one. I wouldn't mind if they'd just come with a "Windows User Interface Guidelines Compliance" skin as one of the alternatives.

Looks like it may work with some protected cds (not sure about in the US)

Re: New EAC on the horizon - 21/01/2002 17:23

Hm. I tried it. Downloaded the new EAC and the newest LAME and I got mp3 files at 32 bps and no sound. Weird. Can anyone write a QUICK outline of how to get it set up out of the box with 128 vbr and LAME?

I'm getting this exact problem... anyone get it to work correctly?

Re: New EAC on the horizon - 21/01/2002 17:53

I'm having the same problem, though it seems that it has to do with the ripping rather than the encoding..so the problem is not related to LAME.

I'm curious..though..what OS are you guys who are having the problem running. I have the problem on Win2k, and I'd guess that you two are also on Win2k or XP (or maybe NT) as opposed to the 98 or Me. Is this true?

Re: New EAC on the horizon - 21/01/2002 17:56

I'm on 98, and I get that with the *previous* beta and a certain CD setting. I forget exactly what, but when I use the standard settings, I get sound :P

If you use the default settings instead of autodetecting, you shouldn't have that problem.

Re: New EAC on the horizon - 21/01/2002 18:00

Hrmm...well....

I just now installed EAC on this Win2K machine (suspecting it would rip silent .wav files) and I haven't changed any settings at all before testing it. Sure enough..I get silent .wav files, and if you could point me to a setting to change that, I'd appreciate it

Re: New EAC on the horizon - 21/01/2002 18:02

Funny that we were all getting the same result, but no one said anything. Guess we all think we must be doing something wrong so we keep quiet... ;-)

I am on a W2K platform as well. I kept the recommended settings, went through the wizard fine and still got 32 bit silent mp3 files...

Re: New EAC on the horizon - 21/01/2002 18:04

FIXED.

Go to Drive Options and re-run the detect read features. I got two different results randomly... but the "no yes no" config worked fine. The WAV's it was ripping were screwed up. All's well now! YAY!

PS... i'm on Win2Kpro
