Pelican cases - 19/01/2002 19:50

Im gonna have to recommend a pelican case for all you wanting a case for your empegs. It is a little on the large and expensive side but it is fully submersible and has more than adaquate shock protection. Not to mention looks very plain so it wont draw attention to itself if you dont take it with you.

Does it have a lock?

it doesnt come with a lock but it has 2 sets of holes that you can use to put a lock through and lock the case up.

I got the 1300 its has the same footprint as the the 1200 but its a bit taller thus I can keep some accesories below my empeg. The 1400 is bigger if you can spring the cash but personally I like the smaller size. http://www.pelican.com/product/cases/index.htm

Re: Pelican cases - 19/01/2002 22:02

so would the recommendation be to go with the 1200 Model? With it only costing about $35 online, probably worth it over the soft case.

Re: Pelican cases - 20/01/2002 01:45

Definately worth it. The empeg case is OK for normal minor bumps that happens when you carry it around, but if you drop it it doesn't provide all that much protection - but the Pelican cases do.

Been there, done that, didn't get a T-shirt but replacement lenses for the MkI

Re: Pelican cases - 20/01/2002 06:58

The 1200 will fit the empeg, but not much else.. i picked up a 1400, and managed to fit the empeg, power supply, rca cables, several rca adapters, tiny set of speakers and headphones and a small netowork cable. The only thing i couldnt fit in was the usb and serial cable.
Don't be afraid of the plucky foam stuff its easier than what other posts have said to work with, just requires a little forethought.

Re: Pelican cases - 20/01/2002 14:43

My bigger concern is just then ease of carrying it around. I woudn't mide getting a larger case to hold more, but in most of the scenarios where I need a case, I'd like to have a small one that I can easily carry places. I think I'll go with the 1200 and try it out. If it doesn't work well I'll upsize to the 1400 and keep the 1200. They don't seem like bad cases to have in any event.

Re: Pelican cases - 20/01/2002 17:26

Plus 1200 cases and the slightly smaller ones have been in wide use on TV recently for booby-trapped spy-cases. The day I bought my 1200 they used one in a rerun of ALIAS. They put a couple of LEDs on it to make it look high-tech.

I've been using mine for a couple of weeks and like it a lot. I can fit the empeg, the power supply and remote. I should be able to fit a set of RCA cables under the empeg (not a large premium set though).

Definitely search for the previous threads to get pictures and tips on cutting the foam to fit the empeg.

Thanks for that link. Their site is better than Pelican's for crying out loud! The pictures are much more useful.

Re: Pelican cases - 06/12/2002 02:21

Having dropped my Empeg, I wanted to get one of these case in the UK. I can't believe the price. £54. They are only about US $35 for most of you guys.

Can anyone recommend a good UK supplier or a good UK alternative for around £30 ?

Thanks
