Spaceshifting - 03/04/2002 18:48

I heard this term on NPR today for the first time. Refers to the fair use of content as in copying from CD to digital jukebox.

Seriously, I just Googled it and it shows up a few times (less than a Google page, so eight hits or so) and a lot of it seems to reference the Napster lawsuit. I think it may actually have been used in one of their briefs, probably to liken it to the Sony/Betamax timeshifting case.

Yes, the National Public Radio interview was on the topic of Digital Rights Managment. Both spaceshifting and timeshifthing were mentioned as varities of fair use.

Btw: I hate the fact that explorer doesn't spell check for me. I'm going to have to go back to my mac and omniweb.
