jitters when changing eq settings - 06/04/2002 12:36

Running the latest hijack i noticed last night that when i change my eq setings (band by band) everytime i nudge a band up or down the mp3 playing pauses, never used to do this. Normal or bug? Hijack or latest kernel fm empeg?

Wondering if anyone else has this.

Yeah, i've noticed this too. But too me, if i change it slowly, it won't do it, but if i rotate the knob to make it jump up or down more than one position, it'll pause for just a sec, sometimes, the hourglass even comes on. Is this what you're talking about?

Is this only with Hijack?

Genixia, are you outputting debug messages on the serial port when bands get changed? Bad boy.

Possible work around: Increase the in-car serial port speed by editing the config.ini file (instructions in the FAQ).

don't know f it is just hijack, haven't done a kernel swap yet, figured i would post here first. I will check and try advancing the speed.

Uuhh. My bad.

Increasing the DC serial port speed may help alleviate or eliminate the issue. For those willing and able to roll their own kernels, a patch is attached that you can apply to hijack253 that should eliminate the problem.

me@here kernels$ls
hijack253
fixeq.patch
me@here kernels$ cd hijack253
me@here hijack253$ patch -p1 <../fixeq.patch
patching file arch/arm/special/hijack.c
me@here hijack253$ make dep && make zImage

Otherwise give me a few minutes and I'll get a binary together.

Try hijack253-eq_stutter_fix.zimage.

Feedback appreciated..

tried from 3 diff machines, unless somehow cox has blacklisted the range..which they may have,... all the machines were on the cox.net network.

if you could mail it that would be great

[email protected] I think it has a 3-4 meg limit if you need to do a multirar.. thanks again, sorry to be such a PITA

Re: jitters when changing eq settings - 10/04/2002 20:02

I realised on my way home that I should check my firewall - I have a rather paranoid firewall that blocks addresses that appear as invalid or unassigned in IANAs list, but I have noticed in the past that some ISPs appear to actually be using these....Lo and behold...cox.net is on 68.1.x.x and was being blocked.

Try now!
