ok so my empeg was awesome.. all of the sudden some DMB is goiing sour.. Like static and plays like its on roids... How can I force a fsck on the drive?

What version of the software are you running? Perhaps it's one of the known bugs. If it's 2.0 Beta 3, then that's the problem. Upgrade to 2.0 Beta 11 and the problem will go away, no FSCK needed.

Can you give more details about the problems? Maybe it has nothing to do with FSCK.

im using b11. all of the sudden today I noticed two of my DMB songs has static and sound like roger rabbit. They worked perfectly fine b4.

Examine the songs in MP3Trim and see if there's anything wrong with the original files. Also try playing them in WinAmp. It might not have anything to do with the player's hard disk.
