Meet In Detroit This Summer?

Well, everyone else is doing it so why can't we?

As I know that there are at least five of us in the immediate vicinity of the motor city, how about it?

A few cool ones, an opportunity to check out each other's rides and installs and some friendly discussion etc...

Let's set something up.

Since I can't make it to the Boston meet I would be game for it. It's much closer to me, only 5 hour drive and I come up to Waterford twice a month on business which is very near Detroit. I could get the company to pay for one nights stay.

Just don't make it in the city itself, make it somewhere near a lake (only got a thousand or so to choose from). I was up there today and enjoyed the ride.

Well, if people were willing to cross into Windsor, there are lots of nice places near water here that are all within 30 minutes drive of Detroit/Windsor...and just think of how much farther your dollar will go here too...However I do know of nice places outside of Detroit that are not too far from the city centre...SE_Sport_Driver will have some good suggestions if he's in I'm sure.

Oh there are just TONS of places that we could meet. I'd prefer to have it near major highways so it is easier for people from out of town. When we find where people are coming from (I-75 or I-94 or both) we can find a place easily.

I'm up for it and I got 4 people that may make it out (not members of the BBS yet, but I convinced them to buy a player - quit lurking Christian and Al!)

I would be staying in Waterford on M-59 so as long as you give me directions from there I would be ok with meeting any where. I mentioned the lakes because I enjoy looking at them on my drive up there. I wish I had a boat or a snowmoblie to have some fun on them.

eh, only 1200 miles. I could make it one day. Ill have to see if i can find some money in the couch.

I was thniking of doing something like that myself. Well someone has to step up to take charge of the plans and decide on a place and a time. I hope more than just a small handful will come.

Too bad we didn't plan it far in advanced - Memorial Day weekend will be the Detroit Electronic Music Fest.... over 1,000,000 people from all over the world last year...

yep.. I was in town for DEMF last year.. was awsome.

tho I really wish I could get an empeg meet going in chicago area.. would save me half of the driving from minnesota..

I wouldn't want to come up when there are that many people expected in the area. Non-holiday weekend would be best. Does it get real hot up there in July or August?

Yes, It can get quite hot (and humid) here in the middle of summer, what with us being surrounded by all this water...

I will start putting together a plan then, I really would like to do this...there are all kinds of summer festivals going on here and in Detroit so we will have our pick of venues for sure...

I thought I would bring this thread back to life. Is anyone going to take charge and plan this? Or would anyone be willing to drive down to Cincinnati if I would plan it?

I'm new to the site and the thread but I'm up for a road trip. Coming from South Carolina its going to take a day of driving regardless of where it is. But hey thats why I bought a convertible. I'll help anyway I can, but being so far away I can't really make any arrangements.

Cincinnati sounds fine.

I am only a couple hours from Cincy...i could drive there if someone organizes a meet.

I might be up for a drive/fly.

I'm 100% for Detroit and can help organize it.... I'm not sure about Cinci, but that'd be cool. (My wife hates my toys!) Cleveland would be cool as well..

I'll either ride up with revlmwest or drive up to Cincy. Detroit's a little far from SC.

Looks like your elected, and from the looks of your posts you'd be good at it. Why don't you start a new strain with Cincinnati in the title and see what kind of response we get.

Apologies for dropping the ball on this one however I've been a little preoccupied with goings-on here...I am still up for this and it seems that there is renewed interest. Cinci would be good for me as well, I am up for a road trip of sorts.

I am in St. Louis, but count me in! I would love to come and exchange ideas, etc.

I haven't gotten mine installed yet, but as soon as I get a replacement IDE cable, mine is going in!

I understand your pain, mine came in the mail today.... by the way I was in St. Louis a week ago... being new to this. what is that really stands in the way of this happening? Organization, money, a real list of those interested, etc.?
