cross fading between tracks

cross fading between tracks - 23/05/2002 01:40

how hard would it be to cross fade between tracks as you skipped around? Or should i say, is it planed for a release anytime?

since i've installed the cross fader plugin that comes with the recent version of winamp, i don't konw how i lived without it. It just added a small fade in and out between songs, even if you pause, stop, or hit play. it really smoothes it out.

This has been brought up many times in the "Wish List" forum. There are some concerns that it won't work with WAV files (because two decoding processes need to be run at the same time) IIRC. But I'd be happy even if it only worked on mp3s...

Hi.

You missunderstood the previous threads, I think:
WAV files do not need to be decoded, MP3 files do.
So basically, it would be easier to add crossfading of .WAV files than crossfading of .MP3 files.

They're both pretty easy with our new audio architecture (post 2.0).

I was thinking about this over the weekend. I bet audio plugins and crossfading are on the horizon!

i'd like to see the volume ramp up and down when giong into and out of pause. Now that i use it with winamp, i don't konw how i lived without it.

One thing I remember is that the default setting for the winamp crossfade is to have the "new" song always start at normal volume and the first song fades out... would this be simpler for the empeg? I've always used this rather than the first one fading out on top of the 2nd one fading in...

I've used SqrSoft's advanced crossfading v1.5b (for Winamp) on my SHOUTcast station for a while now and it just rocks! It would be a real powerful feature to implement a cross-fader of that calibre into the Empeg/Rio software.

Think of what you could do at parties with that kind of capablity...

yea, that's cool too.... maybe even better, i don't care, just something to smooth it out. I honestly don't know how i lived without it... even my cd player seems harsh now when skipping tracks!
