WTB : Rio Remote or Kenwood Remote - 01/12/2002 13:17
Anyone know where I could find either of these? I'd prefer to have the rio remote but would settle for the kenwood style.

It's your lucky day. They are still on sale for only $19.
Here's the link:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that is the Kenwwod remote, right?
Nothing wrong with that, but your post first looked to me as if you were referring to the rio remotes.

well I am looking for Rio Remotes but I doubt that I will find any. So the kenwood remotes will probably have to do

Greetings!
Hmm... That is not the one that comes with the RioCar. Any idea what product that is from?

No idear, but it says it is suitable for riocar.
And is it cheaper then the kenwood one.

It might work with the riocar/empeg, but you won't be able to access all the functions usually available on the remote. Most important thing you will miss is the search functionality (since there are no digit/letter buttons).

I should have one of these in the mail... I'll verify it's usability when I get it.

Sissy and Rev...
I'm guessing that remote was from a different product in the Rio line, and that its code set won't work by default on the Rio Car players.
Some futzing with the ir translations in Hijack would make it work, I'm sure, but like Sven said, you still wouldn't be able to do alphanumeric searches with it (primary reason to own a remote).
My question to the person at the very top of this thread: Why don't you already have a remote for your player?

My spare doesn't have one; I got the remoteless unit from TTony. On the other hand I already had a spare remote, but I could see cases where you'd want to leave a remote in your office or something, and one in your car, and one doesn't sit well in 2 places.

In the office I use
empeg tray... I found it to be very helpful since my empeg is out of reach. It won't let you do everything but I can at least pause when the phone rings.

Yes I just want to have an extra remote. No hurts to have spares.

It says
EmpegTray is a small Windows app
Well, that pretty much rules it out
