Rio 800 - 18/08/2002 18:52

Maybe Hugo and the other guys hired by Rio should be working on fixing the Rio 800s and such. These things have by far the WORST battery issues I have ever seen (and I supposedly have one of the revisions that has no issues).

I have to calibrate the battery half the time I use the thing, and that only takes 300 minutes... bleh

Are you letting it run completly dead ? The riot says you have to re-calibrate the battery if you let it go totally dead. Maybe it's the same for both ?

What a piece of crap. If letting it run all the way down is a bad thing, why does it let you do it? How much would it cost to have a component that prevents it from turning on if the voltage is too low?

I have let mine run down and not recalibrate the battery and it works fine. They tell you in the manual you are supposed to do it though. The battery does last for a very long time though. I used it in a rental car and just left the player run all day instead of turning it off and on and the battery lasted for about 12 hours.

Can you please tell Compaq this when they design PDAs?
My iPaq is still dead at the moment

Yeah then we could spend even less time on car player software.
