Quick EAC question

Quick EAC question - 19/08/2002 19:16

All my files appear to be compressed with VBR. Say I want CBR. I looked in the compression options and I see no way of specifying this. There's a dropdown box for the bit rate you want to encode at, which most people would assume means the thing will encode with CBR, but there's also two radio buttons for high and low qualities. Am I right in saying that technically there shouldn't be such a thing as high or low quality 192kbps? The menu is a tad confusing.

I assume that it means high or low quality VBR around 192 kbps, but I can't see anything resembling a CBR option.

I always use EAC with user defined settings anyway, so you should be able to get it to work by doing that, telling it where LAME lives, and providing the correct command line arguments (including %s for source and %d for destination filenames).

I can't remember off-hand what the arguments would be for CBR, but a quick look at the LAME docs should tell you.

Hope this helps,
Bryan.

I don't know if you're doing this, but if you use the --alt-preset-standard option your files will automatically be VBR.

If you don't want this don't specify this preset.
