G-Tech Cartunes - anybody know details - 31/10/2002 06:29
I saw the attached advertisement in a SEMA (aftermarket car customization trade group) magazine. G-Tech primarily seems to make performance meters and the music player shown uses the same housing as one of their meters. There was nothing the G-Tech website (www.gtechpro.com) about the player at all. It looked like an interesting form factor, but only 2GB but with a decent sized screen.
Anybody know about this thing?

"Your entire CD music collection stored on a 2GB hard drive."
Yeah, encoded at 2 kbps! Are they nuts? 2 gigs is maybe 30-40 albums at 128 kbps. Whose "entire CD music collection" fits into that?

I got a chuckle out of that too. I think I'd be bored listening to only 2 GB worth of music. Looking at the thing I have to wonder what form factor the storage is. It doesn't look big enough to hold a portable HD or even a PCMCIA card drive, but it must be because 2GB microdrives don't exist yet.
