Dr. William Marston - 08/11/2002 23:10
I just read
this article which was one of Blue's News links of the day. Mostly, it told me stuff I already knew, except for one little tidbit about Dr. William Marston, the inventor, which I didn't know.
Does anyone else "get" the delicious irony in that tidbit?

I'm guessing that you knew he invented the polygraph, which is something I didn't know (I did know that he was a psychologist). However, I guess, having read only the title and tagline of the article, that it mentions that he was also the creator of Wonder Woman (he's usually credited there as ``William Moulton Marston''). And Wonder Woman has her ``lasso of truth''. Neat. Supposedly, she was created as an example for girls, that they can be as powerful as boys, and don't have to take a back-seat role.

Yeah, the Lasso of Truth thing is what I found so funny.

Supposedly, she was created as an example for girls,
I never got it...If she was supposed to raise the profile of female superheroes, what the hell is she doing flying an *invisible* airplane?
I mean, where do you put the Oxygen Channel sponsorship decals?

Okay, that was a good one.
