You should check out his interview on Slashdot. He seems like a rational guy whose ego got the better of him and has since realized the error of his ways (at the expense of sounding cliched). Reading that interview reminded me of the stuff Loren was saying a while back about Ian MacKaye and the straightedge crowd. There's definitely a parallel between that and the relationship between Mitnick and the Free-Kevin-ers.

Yeah. Everyone wants a hero, and wants to identify with a group. At least in their early years. As we all get into our 20s and 30s and beyond, we start to be more comfortable being ourselves.

He's coming to CMU next month to speak. I wonder if he's worth hearing.
