MacOS X and Yahoo

MacOS X and Yahoo - 30/03/2003 20:03

Can someone else who's running MacOS X (10.2.4) please tell me if you can get to Yahoo?

None of my browsers will connect, complaining that there's no such host, or some such. Ping tells me the same thing. OTOH, I can nslookup and dig www.yahoo.com, and I can get my browsers to go to www.yahoo.akadns.net (and cars.yahoo.com, too, for example).

It's like there's a bug in MacOS X's resolver somewhere that's preventing this from working. I wonder if there's a buffer limit being reached because such a lookup returns so much data.

Anyway, I'd appreciate it if someone could confirm or deny that problem for me.

Thanks.

No problems here with 10.2.4 and I.E. or Safari.

Odd, it comes up fine for me in Omniweb, Phoenix, IE, Camino (Chimera), and links.

Nuts. It may be a problem with my name server, then.

Which one are you using? I can try it as well and see if I can reproduce the problem.

Hmm.... Well that's the problem right there. :P

No problem, BTW.
