Windows Media Player Visualization Questions - 02/04/2003 19:50
Does anyone know where to download some really cool WMP visualizations (other than the Microsoft website? also, do you know how to make a list of favorite visualizations and randomize only them? also, when I put the visualizations in the screen size of my screen (1024 x 768) the mp3 starts to sputter....do i need more memory? (i have 256k at the moment)

If you have 256k, you definitely need more memory. (kidding: I'm sure you have 256 meg (=1000x256k))
No idea. I've found all visualizations make my machine run like crap, winamp, WMP. PIII850 756MB.

Most visualisations don't take advantage of the fast hardware on modern video cards, to my knowledge - the render the screen in memory and then blat it out to screen. This means that if you have a cheap video card, especially one that uses system memory or a PCI card, then writing mass frames per second will slow things down to a crawl. I've managed 800x600 at 25 fps in Geiss on a TNT 2, and I haven't tried it on my Athlon 1800 and GeForce 2 so I can't tell you exactly how much faster it is.
Does this give you a few clues?
