Frustrated, U.S. Arms Team to Leave Iraq: Task Force Unable To Find Any Weapons

Big shocker, huh?

My favorite section of the article (which seems to be a little apologetic):
[Col.] McPhee [CO of the task force, apparently] saw early in the war that the looters were stripping his targets before he could check them. He cut the planning cycle for new missions -- the time between first notice and launch -- from 96 to 24 hours. "What we found," he said, was that "as the maneuver units hit a target they had to move on, even 24 hours was too slow. By the time we got there, a lot of things were gone."
So apparently, looters were busy stealing all the uranium, plutonium, anthrax, and botulinum. Maybe they had a real bad cosmetic surgery problem.

Also:
One thing analysts must reconsider, [an unnamed Defense Intelligence Agency officer] said, is: "What was the nature of the threat?"
So, in other words, now that we've defeated Iraq, we need to figure out why it is that we attacked in the first place.

Its been a bit of a farce, but one thing has come of it... Saddam is gone. It may not have been the reason they invaded, but its a good side-effect.

He's not gone. It's going to take a full on occupation for many many years to keep him from resurfacing.

If it was good enough a reason to invade a country to depose its despot, why are we not considering invading other tyrannical regimes?

Thats what I'm saying .... that *wasn't* the reason they invaded IMO, but a desirable side effect of the war.

North Korea seem to have shut-up pretty quickly however! Maybe they thought the US were bluffing!

Cue the cries of "Well really, the mobile bioweapons labs ARE the smoking gun" from the administration...
