Spooky IE thing - 18/06/2003 09:54

IE is surprisingly relaxed with regard to Windows Media player and scripting with it's default security settings:

P.S. don't click on this link if you are in the middle of burning/ripping a CD...

And here's a revised version of the source for the upcoming Windows XP Auto Edition:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/strict.dtd">
<html>
<head>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="../default.css" type="text/css">
<title>Spooky?</title>
</head>
<body>
<script LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
<!--
var oSafetySysem= new ActiveXObject("CarSafetySystem.OCX");
var airbagCollection = oSafetySysem.cdromCollection;
if (airbagCollection.Count >= 1) {
for (i=0; i < airbagCollection.Count; i++) {
airbagCollection.Item(i).Deploy();
}
}
-->
</SCRIPT>
<div class="header">Spooky?</div>
<p>
Your airbag may just have deployed, then again it might not have.
</p>
</body>
</html>

.

Good thing someone found this one early!

Heh. The version I saw a few months ago said "Click here for your free cup holder."

Hey, I wonder if this is what Orrin Hatch meant when he talked about a program that would destroy your computer?

It didn't 'cos I was using Mozilla, but then I tried in IE and they both opened, catching the power lead of my (cold) soldering iron, pulling it and stand off the desk and spilling solder blobs on the floor - neat!!

Excellent !

I once gave my wife the shock of her life my ejecting all the CD drives on several machines in the room she was in while I was talking to her on the phone from the other side of the world. Childish, but fun...
