Screensaver problems - 07/07/2003 15:56

i have two screensavers that I use all the time http://inition.co.uk/inition/downloads_AmbientFlockSaver_image2.htm and http://www.reallyslick.com/ (Fireworks 2.0). However, whenever these are on my computer, the screensaver only kicks in sometimes, not all the time. Or if I have a internet page open, it will come on for a second and then go off. However, with the built in screensavers, those kick in no matter what. could it be something to do with OpenGL? I am using Windows 2000

I've seen the same problem on my Windows XP box here, and never have found a fix. The one I use currently (Matrix Reloaded 3D 2.0) dosen't seem to have this problem.

Unfortunatly this is just a "Me too" post, as I don't have a fix :-(

i think I might have found the problem. After shutting off the "smart keyboard" program. It seems to work fine. That program hasn't really worked that well anyway. The on screen display doesn't come on when on the internet.

I have a similar problem in XP, yet it occurs with the built-in screensavers. I'll leave and the screensaver will be on, but when I get back, the screensaver has shut off automatically, and there's my desktop which has been static for who knows how long. I originally thought it might have something to do with the sensitivity of the optical mouse.

I'm beginning to think it has something to do with the power saving settings I have for the monitor. It seems like when the monitor is supposed to power down, say after an hour of no use, that's when the screen flickers and the desktop reappears. I haven't looked that deeply into it.

I've resorted now to turning the monitor off whenever I leave.

Mine started doing that this week as well. Haven't changed a thing, either. I turn my monitor off now too...

My old aptiva did that.. except. my computer just would go into stand by and I'd have to move the mouse and everything just to make the screen AND the screen saver go back on... I never could figure it out.. I too wound up turning the moniter off.. now however it is a DEAD computer with no more hopes left... Its been a BIG gigorgantic paper weight on my upstairs desk for the past 3 years.. kinda hurts me too... it was a bat'mitzvah gift from my grandmother
