FTP Client - 08/07/2003 05:42

I'm tired of using CuteFTP. It's gotten a bit annoying. Does anyone know of a good, free FTP client? I've been trying to find my way through the various projects on Sourceforge, but I don't know how reliable those products are.

I'm usually using the freeware FTPcommander, see http://www.internet-soft.com/doc/ftpcom2.htm for an online user manual/overview, or http://www.internet-soft.com/ftpcomm.htm for a description.

I like ncftp but it's a command line FTP client.

Also try CuteFTP Pro for a new interface.

Thanks, but I'm looking for a free program, and CuteFTP does some annoying stuff.

Hmm, two programs with two dittos...

I'll test them both out Thanks, Loren

So far I really like the simplicity of LeechFTP, and the button to minimize to the system tray is cool. There's only one feature I love in SmartFTP that doesn't appear to be in Leech, and that's the ability to see the file tree on both side of the connection. When I'm 5 folders deep into my phpBB area, and I want to, say, go directly to a subfolder of my Gallery, I don't like clicking a "parent directory" button 5 times then going through more subdirectories. In Smart I can go there in one click.

Still, Leech is so blissfully clean and simple, I can live with that inconvenience.

Yeah, a tree would be nice huh...

The simplicity of it is what i love... and the threading. You can set how many connections you want it to make and watch it queue it all up and go. nice. Too bad no one else picked up it's dev.
